Accountants swap taxes for tees at successful golf challenge
A golf challenge organised by South West-based chartered accountancy firm Milsted Langdon has been hailed as a huge success.
Now in its second year, the tournament took place during the summer months, with challenges held in both Bristol and Yeovil. Each challenge consisted of round-robin matches which took place over three days, culminating in a finals day at which prizes were presented.
The Bristol finals day took place at Bristol Golf Club, where Mike Page and Dave Wilks from The Royal Bank of Scotland were declared winners of the overall competition, beating Nathan Guest and Cedric Clapp from Bristol-based Veale Wasbrough Vizard Solicitors. The event also raised £190 for Headway Somerset – a charity providing support to individuals who have suffered a brain injury – through a ‘Heads and Tails’ game at the prize-giving dinner.
The Yeovil finals day was held at Long Sutton Golf Club, where the overall competition was won by Rob Smith and Brian Ritchie of Fit and Furnish, who beat last year’s defending champions Lloyds TSB Farmers – Simon Rowbottom and David Stunt from Lloyds TSB – in a thrilling match decided on the 19th hole.
Gary Salter, a partner at Milsted Langdon, said: “Last year’s inaugural event proved so successful that we decided to hold the challenge again this year, which proved to be a roaring success with places being snapped up quickly.
“I would like to thank everyone who participated for making this year’s challenge such an enjoyable event. We have already had people asking us about next year’s tournament, so watch this space!”
